When it comes to creative writing. I feel scaffolding is especially important. Scaffolding writing–whether with worksheets or through techniques–is especially important for struggling writers. When students. who are uncomfortable with putting their ideas on paper. find themselves in a creative writing class. scaffolds are even more important.

Writing frames only support students to rearrange the knowledge they already have. Are passive and fixed — they don’t change or develop according to the student’s developing ability (within and across lessons) and don’t provide effective challenge.

Bruner’s theory of scaffolding emerged around 1976 as a part of social constructivist theory. and was particularly influenced by the work of Russian psychologist Lev Vygotsky. Vygotsky argued that we learn best in a social environment. where we construct meaning through interaction with others.
